My name is Austin Akalonu. I am’ from Houston, Texas. A Christian and married with 3 lovely boys. Listening to music, playing table tennis and spending time with my wife and children are the things I like to do in my leisure time.
Welcome to my Clinical Mental Health Counseling e-Portfolio. I am a master’s-level student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program at Grand Canyon University. This portfolio documents my academic preparation, professional experiences, and counselor identity development throughout my practicum and internship training.
I am currently completing my internship at Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Houston, Texas, where I also work as a Mental Health Technician. This dual role allows me to integrate coursework, supervised clinical training, and direct client exposure with adult and adolescent populations in a structured behavioral health setting.
This e-Portfolio reflects my growth in counseling knowledge, skills, and professional identity, as well as my commitment to ethical practice, cultural humility, and evidence-based care. The materials included demonstrate alignment with CACREP competencies and Grand Canyon University’s mission to prepare competent, compassionate, and service-oriented counseling professionals.
